In April, we will be running the following contests:
Grade 1: While Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is designed for grades 2-6, 1st graders are encouraged to take this round of Noetic as an introduction to the contest they will be taking next year.
Grades 2-6: The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a semiannual problem solving contest for elementary and middle school students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. During the contest, students are given 45 minutes to solve 20 problems. Many problems are designed to challenge students and to enrich their problem solving experiences.
Grades 1-6: Mini events are fun activities designed to challenge participants in thinking. These will be more logic and puzzle focused.
Grades 7 - 12: MathWrangle can be described as a combination of math and debate. Students work in teams to solve problems and then teams take turns challenging each other to explain their solutions. More details will be provided to participants and they will be guided through this event.
Students should bring pencils, a calculator, a bottle of water, & their lunch or snacks. Snacks and water will be available for purchase (everything is $1).
Awards for this contest will be presented at the State of Nevda Math Championship and ARML Local event on April 27th. Students unable to be at the April 27th contest may make arrangements with Sherry to pick awards at the NNVMath office.
