Event Description

This is a fun, week long, full day, joint math & robotics summer camp we our offering for grades 1-8.

Math Camp: Start the day with math camp - Why lose skills over the summer when you can take it to the next level? We’ll use challenging problems that use math skills taught in school while developing camper’s logic and problem-solving abilities. This camp is for both those preparing for future math contests and those who want an engaging and positive summer math experience. We encourage campers to embrace difficult problems and to find joy in the struggle that comes with them. Campers will be introduced to a breadth of math concepts likely to be encountered in math competitions and we’ll cover different math competition strategies.

Robotics Camp: After lunch, campers will participate in All Star Academy's Introduction to Robotics or Intermediate Robotics Camp (as appropriate).

**Introduction to Robotics focuses on revealing the endless possibilities in the world of robotics through structured programs for children, grades 1-3. Campers will utilize FIRST Robotics core values and form teams to complete daily challenges and build functional and programmable models based on real world issues and technologies. No previous experience is required.
**Intermediate Robotics students will utilize the engineering design process to evaluate, plan and build original, autonomous robots that accomplish specific daily tasks. These tasks will increase in complexity throughout the week and will encourage the use of one’s own imagination, teamwork and problem solving skills to progress. All programming and mechanical knowledge will be taught prior to the presentation of challenges, no previous experience is required. By the end of the final session, students will have attained the knowledge to design, build and program EV3 and NXT module controlled robots. Each session will start promptly at 1pm and will conclude at 4:30pm each day.

Camp starts at 9am and ends at 4:30pm. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack each day. Campers should bring their lunch and a bottle of water. Early drop off and late pick up are available for an additional fee. (Regular drop off is 8:45; regular pick up is 4:45)

All camps are designed so that campers can attend a single or multiple sessions.

NOTE: We are only able to offer scholarships to cover math camps.
