The Mathematics League contests give students an educationally enriching opportunity to participate in an academically oriented activity and to gain recognition for mathematical achievement. Their main goal is educational.  They promote enjoyment and study of mathematics by organizing contests.

CONTEST FORMAT:

  • In-person only
  • 6 meets
  • 6 problems/30 minutes
  • Calculators ARE allowed
  • Free response

WHO:
Students in high school.

WHEN:
Meets start at 12:45 (or as shortly after the MathRocks! Team round which will be approximately 12:45).

  • October 16
  • November 13
  • December 4 – this 1 meet is at NNVMath’s Clubhouse – Check-in starting at 12:15, contest starting at 12:45
  • January 8
  • February 5
  • March 5

Check-in for students NOT participating in MathRocks! begins at noon.  Those participating in MathRocks! will be automatically checked in with their MathRocks! check-in.

WHERE: 
All meets EXCEPT the December meet will be held at the University of Nevada, Reno.  Check-in is at the William N. Pennington Engineering Building (WPEB), 1st floor.
The December meet will be held at NNVMath’s Clubhouse located at 1480 Linda Way, Sparks, NV.

AWARDS:
Individual Meet Awards: NNVMath will present ribbons to the top performers of each meet at the awards ceremony at the following MathRocks! contest.  This gap in time allows us to deal with any scoring issues and ensure results are correct without making participants and parents wait for an unknown amount of time on each contest day.
Accumulative Season Awards: The Mathematics League provides recognition for top series performer and national placers.  These awards will be presented at our annual Year End Awards Dinner scheduled for May 21st

Registration is for the full series – $45

Registration for all contests are through MyNNVMath.org.  If your school is not listed in the school drop down, email Sherry@NNVMath.org with your school name and city/state where it is located.
